ASTRAL Summer School at the University of Cape Town

From 24th -  26th January, 2024 the ASTRAL Summer School  'Sustainable Seafood Production Through Integrated Aquaculture’, took place at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Emeritus Professor John Bolton of the Department of Biological Sciences of the UCT coordinated the summer school.


The ASTRAL Summer School was part of the programme of activities to celebrate the 100 years of the University of Cape Town. The lectures included the following topics,

(i) Overview of Integrated Aquaculture by Dr Marissa Brink-Hull

(ii) Integrated Aquaculture and the Importance of Seaweeds by Prof. John Bolton

(iii) Sustainable Strategies for Improving Health of Intensive Aquaculture Systems by Dr Brett Macey.
