European Maritime Day 2023

The European Maritime Day 2023 (EMD 2023) was held from May 24th - 25th in Brest, France. Experts from all over Europe gathered to discuss sustainable maritime growth.

EU Commissioner for Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevičius kicked off the event. He discussed the importance of cross-border collaboration, stakeholder consultation, competitive resilient aquaculture and more.

The ASTRAL Project was at the event and on May 25th, we hosted a workshop titled "Sustainable Aquaculture for the 21st Century." It discussed how Sustainable Aquaculture and IMTA can help tackle sustainable food production challenges. Our speakers included William Leschen, Catherina Longo and our coordinator Elisa Ravagnan!

Our partner Crowdhelix was also at the event. They showcased the Aquaculture Helix digital community (which is led by the ASTRAL Project) and also discussed open innovation opportunities at their booth.

Ultimately, the event and our workshop were a huge success. We were happy to have showcased the ASTRAL Project to all those who attended!
