Report on Children’s Day Symposium on School Campaign, Social Awareness on Seafood for the Future, IMTA and Ocean Literacy
ORGANISED BY NIOMR IN COLLABORATION WITH ASTRAL

Introduction
One of the ASTRAL objectives is a School campaign and Ocean literacy. This was achieved with a children’s day symposium organized by NIOMR on the 27th of May 2022. The symposium had in attendance 125 persons, 7 schools made up of 85 children, 21 teachers, and 16 ASTRAL team members. The program started at 10:30a.m. The theme of the symposium is “Awareness on Seafood for The Future, IMTA, and Ocean Literacy”. The program started with the arrival of the schools at 10:00a.m. There were 6 presentations made by ASTRAL members.

Followed by an interaction session involving all the stakeholders, the student ASTRAL members, and teachers. The students in attendance are a combination of both primary and secondary school students. The ASTRAL schools are:

Kiddies Kingdom School, Lagos, Nigeria
Victoria Island Senior Secondary School, Lagos, Nigeria,
Crescents Schools, Lagos, Nigeria

D’Cherub Schools, Lagos, Nigeria
All the schools were presented with a plaque and fish chat calendars as ASTRAL schools. And the program ended at 2:10 pm
