SURVEY: The Massive Problem of Microplastics: A Survey

Microplastics are a problem because they can harm the environment and human health in various ways. They can be intentionally added to products, such as cosmetics, detergents and paints, or they can be formed from the breakdown of larger plastic items such as bottles, plastic bags and fishing nets. The primary impact of microplastics on the environment is the pollution of oceans, beaches, water sources and soils. On human life and wildlife, they pose the risk of ingestion.

ASTRAL is a 4-year EU-funded project (2020-2024) that focuses on Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) farming. Detecting microplastics throughout the IMTA process is difficult, thus, we developed an innovative solution that we believe can help the whole aquaculture domain and beyond.

We would like to get your opinion on how to progress our technology development and in turn how such advancements will benefit your organisation.
